Progress!

Today I got called back into the guidance office “for a quick moment”. I was taken back to Ms. H’s (I need to come up with decent but fake names for my people lol) office and she pulled out a sticker and handed it to me. When I looked down it was *drumroll*…..

Yes! She let me put up the first safe space sticker in our school! That was one of my main goals for this year when I attempted to start the GSA. Although I personally could not be involved for obvious reasons, she said that I was the one who got the ball rolling and so I got to put it up! There have now been a handful of teachers trained by glsen and those teachers will now train other teachers within the school over the next few months. Hopefully those stickers will be popping up all over the place!

I’ll admit though, it was kind of a sweet and sour moment. It reminded me of all the pain I face in the future in regards to my family, but gives me hope for the future generations. That was my whole purpose to begin with. I complain a lot because of the pain I feel of losing my family but really, I just wanted to help others and that sticker is a symbol of what I set out to do….even if it is just a sticker.
